MFL (French) Intent Barley Hill Primary School

Our Modern Foreign Language Curriculum at Barley Hill Primary School reflects our intention for every child to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to become a lifelong learner, responsible global citizen as well as linguist by learning the language of French. 

KS2 children are enthused and excited about developing French language skills through lessons that focus on songs and rhymes as well as provide opportunities for pupils to engage and practice French conversational skills. 

The progression of MFL skills throughout KS2 provides an appropriate balance of spoken and written language by teaching basic French grammar and vocabulary which is read and can be written in sentences.  

 Our MFL Curriculum helps to develop confident life –long learners as it lays the foundations for further foreign language teaching at key stage 3.
