School Meals

Our diet is under the spotlight more than ever before with the recent announcement that there are more overweight people in the world than those who are under-nourished. What we eat has been shown to make a great difference to our health, energy levels and wellbeing. This is particularly important for children. Healthy eating improves childrens' behaviour and their ability to concentrate at school and at home.
 
At Barley Hill we have invested a lot in making sure that our full production kitchen can produce hot, nutritional meals every day, as well as salads and fresh fruit. We are keen for as many children as possible to have our meals which meet the government nutritional standards and also offer food that the children will enjoy eating.

The cost of a meal is £2.70 a day, increasing to £2.90 on the 1st June.

Hot dinners must be ordered by midnight on the Wednesday of the week before they are required.

Please note: On occasion the menus may be swapped around or changed due to unforeseen circumstances. This will only happen in situations beyond our control. Thank you for your understanding.

Is your child eligible for free school meals?

Free school meals are offered to children whose parents receive:

•           Universal Credit if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 (after tax and not including any benefits                 you get)

•           Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

•           Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

•           The guarantee element of Pension Credit

•           Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for the four weeks after you stop qualifying  for Working Tax Credit)

•           Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190

 

We are not allowed to recognise any other benefit other than those mentioned above.
